![Firmware Firmware](https://krillek.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/netgear-cg3000b.jpg)
Hi Tris I called another few times and one phone tech(?) redirected me to netgear. Netgear said it is a custom firmware and may have been disabled by optus and to resolve with optus. I called optus again and finally had one tech says sure, we will send you another CG3000v2 modem.
Plugged in the replacement modem and I get the same result of no USB connectivity from either port using any type of usb device regardless if printer or HDD is connected and what file system the usb uses. I then called 1300 300 693 again and spoke to another technician, who strait up says all modems supplied from optus have the USB ports disabled. He then says the customer usually asks if the usb port works before buying. On a side note in the router settings it also dosent let you disable the reserved IP for the media server. In whole the modem is 10 out of 10 for its price, but the usb feature is misleading and im wondering if I will be charged for 2 modems now?
Sep 23, 2012 - I assume you mean the firmware for the Netgear router. Anything available in the netgear to modify the behaviour of the USB ports.
